characterization of barmah forest virus: an alphavirus with some unusual properties.barmah forest virus has been characterized in a number of ways including electron microscopy of infected cells; physical studies of the virion, its rna, and associated proteins; n-terminal sequence analysis of the two envelope glycoproteins; studies of macromolecular species present in infected cells; and serological cross-reactions with alphaviruses and bunyaviruses. from these results barmah forest virus is clearly an alphavirus since the structure of the virion, the mode of replication, and t ...19846324461
molecular characterization of umbre virus (bunyaviridae).umbre (umb) virus was first isolated from india in 1955 and classified as orthobunyavirus (turlock serogroup). eight isolates of this virus, isolated from culex mosquitoes were characterized on the basis of partial glycoprotein (g2) gene. twenty-six percent differences at nucleotide level while 17% differences at amino acid level were noted within different isolates. phylogentic data shows that this virus represents a distinct group within the genus orthobunyavirus.200818842123
novel orthobunyavirus causing severe kidney disease in broiler chickens, malaysia, 2014-2017.during 2014-2017, we isolated a novel orthobunyavirus from broiler chickens with severe kidney lesions in the state of kedah, malaysia; we named the virus kedah fatal kidney syndrome virus (kfksv). affected chickens became listless and diarrheic before dying suddenly. necropsies detected pale and swollen kidneys with signs of gout, enlarged and fragile livers, and pale hearts. experimental infection of broiler chickens with kfksv reproduced the disease and pathologic conditions observed in the f ...201931107212
