phylogenetic relationships of riemerella anatipestifer serovars and related taxa and an evaluation of specific pcr tests reported for r. anatipestifer.the aims of the present investigation were to characterize and identify serovars of riemerella anatipestifer and riemerella-like isolates genetically and to test the specificity of pcr tests reported for the identification of r. anatipestifer.201019840176
effect of volatile organic compounds from bacteria on nematodes.the five studied bacterial strains could produce volatile organic compounds (vocs) that kill nematodes. based on their 16s rrna sequences, these strains were identified as pseudochrobactrum saccharolyticum, wautersiella falsenii, proteus hauseri, arthrobacter nicotianae, and achromobacter xylosoxidans. the bacterial vocs were extracted using solid-phase micro-extraction (spme) and subsequently identified by gc/ms analysis. the vocs covered a wide range of aldehydes, ketones, alkyls, alcohols, al ...201526363885
algoriella xinjiangensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new psychrotolerant bacterium of the family flavobacteriaceae.an aerobic, gram-stain negative, non-spore-forming and psychrotolerant bacterium, designated strain xj109(t), was isolated from a sewage water sample collected from xinjiang uigur autonomous region, china. phylogenetic analysis based on 16s rrna gene sequence indicated that strain xj109(t) represents a novel member of the family flavobacteriaceae. the strain showed 95.5 % similarity with the 16s rrna gene sequence of empedobacter brevis lmg 4011(t), 95.4% with chishuiella changwenlii by4(t), 95. ...201526310805
community-based degradation of 4-chorosalicylate tracked on the single cell level.4-chlorosalicylate (4-cs) can be degraded completely by a bacterial consortium consisting of pseudomonas reinekei (mt1), achromobacter spanius (mt3) and pseudomonas veronii (mt4). the fourth species wautersiella falsenii (mt2) is thought to act as a 'necrotizer' of the community. single cell approaches were used to follow every species' degradation activity within the community by assuming that growth and proliferation are activity markers for the utilization of 4-cs and its degradation pathway ...200818593643
description of wautersiella falsenii gen. nov., sp. nov., to accommodate clinical isolates phenotypically resembling members of the genera chryseobacterium and empedobacter.a total of 26 isolates of non-fermenting, gram-negative rods, obtained between 1980 and 2004 by various clinical laboratories in belgium, with phenotypic characteristics resembling those of members of the genera chryseobacterium and empedobacter (indole-positive) and a biochemical profile resembling that of cdc group ii-h, but urease-positive, were collected at the université catholique de louvain microbiology laboratory, belgium. the 16s rrna gene sequences were determined for most of the isola ...200617012555
description of chishuiella changwenlii gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from freshwater, and transfer of wautersiella falsenii to the genus empedobacter as empedobacter falsenii comb. nov.a gram-reaction-negative, strictly aerobic, non-pigmented, non-gliding, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain by4(t), was isolated from freshwater. cells were catalase- and oxidase-positive and indole was produced. phylogenetic analyses based on 16s rrna gene sequences indicated that strain by4(t) belonged to the family flavobacteriaceae and showed 91.6-95.9% sequence similarities to the most closely related strains. the major respiratory quinone was mk-6 and the major polar lipid was phosphat ...201424844262
draft genome sequence of empedobacter (formerly wautersiella) falsenii comb. nov. wf282, a strain isolated from a cervical neck abscess.empedobacter (formerly wautersiella) falsenii comb. nov. strain wf282 was isolated from a cervical neck abscess sample from an 18-year-old female patient. the isolate was resistant to many antibiotics, including meropenem and colistin. the total dna from the multidrug-resistant e. falsenii comb. nov. wf282 clinical isolate was sequenced.201525838490
empedobacter stercoris sp. nov., isolated from an input sample of a biogas plant.two gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped bacteria, strains 990b6_12er2at and 994b6_12er2a, were isolated during microbiological analysis of a mixed manure sample which was used as input material for a german biogas plant. phylogenetic identification based on nearly full-length 16s rrna gene sequences placed the isolates into the family flavobacteriaceae within the phylum bacteroidetes. strains 990b6_12er2at and 994b6_12er2a shared identical 16s rrna gene sequences and showed highest 16s rrna gene seq ...201526228269
first report of a wautersiella falsenii isolated from the urine of an infant with pyelonephritis.here, we report the first isolation of wautersiella falsenii from the urine of an infant with a complicated urinary tract infection. w. falsenii was correctly identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionisation time of flight mass spectrometry. the identification was confirmed by 16s polymerase chain reaction. susceptibility test results of this isolate are reported. ciprofloxacin treatment resulted in clinical and microbiological improvement.201222999333
moheibacter sediminis gen. nov., sp. nov., a member of the family flavobacteriaceae isolated from sediment, and emended descriptions of empedobacter brevis, wautersiella falsenii and weeksella virosa.a gram-reaction-negative, yellow-pigmented, strictly aerobic bacterium, designated m0116t, was isolated from the sediment of the mohe basin in north-east china. flexirubin-type pigments were produced. cells were catalase- and oxidase-positive and non-gliding rods. phylogenetic analysis based on 16s rrna gene sequences revealed that strain m0116t was a member of the family flavobacteriaceae and was most closely related to members of the genera empedobacter, wautersiella and weeksella with 90.5-91 ...201424453231
