[bacterial leaf blight affecting syngonium podophyllum in argentina].bacterial leaf blight of syngonium podophyllum caused by xanthomonas campestris pv. syngonii is recorded for the first time in argentina. the first symptom of the disease was an interveinal watersoaking of leaves, the tissues became chlorotic and finally necrotic over areas of about 4 cm. the identification of the causal microorganism was based on disease symptoms, morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics and pathogenicity test.19947838977
heavy metal leaching from coal fly ash amended container substrates during syngonium production.coal fly ash has been proposed to be an alternative to lime amendment and a nutrient source of container substrates for ornamental plant production. a great concern over this proposed beneficial use, however, is the potential contamination of surface and ground water by heavy metals. in this study, three fly ashes collected from florida, michigan, and north carolina and a commercial dolomite were amended in a basal substrate. the formulated substrates were used to produce syngonium podophyllum s ...200818246510
medicinal and ethnoveterinary remedies of hunters in trinidad.ethnomedicines are used by hunters for themselves and their hunting dogs in trinidad. plants are used for snakebites, scorpion stings, for injuries and mange of dogs and to facilitate hunting success.200111737880
screening of anti-bacterial activity of medicinal plants from belize (central america).twenty-one extracts from seven herbal drugs, aristolochia trilobata (aristolochiaceae) leaves and bark, bursera simaruba (burseraceae) bark, guazuma ulmifolia (sterculiaceae) bark, hamelia patens (rubiaceae) leaves and syngonium podophyllum (araceae) leaves and bark, used in traditional medicine of belize (central america) as deep and superficial wound healers, were evaluated for their anti-bacterial properties. activity was tested against standard strains of escherichia coli atcc 25922, pseudom ...200312787962
screening of the topical anti-inflammatory activity of some central american plants.hexane, chloroform and methanol extracts of seven herbal drugs used in the folk medicine of central america against skin disorders (aristolochia trilobata leaves and bark, bursera simaruba bark, hamelia patens leaves, piper amalago leaves, and syngonium podophyllum leaves and bark) were evaluated for their topical anti-inflammatory activity against the croton oil-induced ear oedema in mice. most of the extracts induced a dose-dependent oedema reduction. the chloroform extract of almost all the d ...200212065153
in vitro antioxidant, antibacterial, and cytotoxic activity and in vivo effect of syngonium podophyllum and eichhornia crassipes leaf extracts on isoniazid induced oxidative stress and hepatic markers.the present study reports the in vitro antioxidant, antibacterial, and cytotoxic potential of syngonium podophyllum (sp) and eichhornia crassipes (ec) leaf aqueous extracts as well as their in vivo effect on oxidative stress and hepatic biomarkers in isoniazid induced rats. phytochemical screening of extracts revealed the presence of flavonoids, terpenoids, reducing sugars, alkaloids, and saponins. phenolic content in sp and ec extracts was 5.36 ± 0.32 and 10.63 ± 0.13 mg pge/g, respectively, wh ...201425162013
a polar extract of the maya healing plant anthurium schlechtendalii (aracea) exhibits strong in vitro anticancer activity.the aracea anthurium schlechtendalii and syngonium podophyllum are traditional remedies for the treatment of severe and chronic inflammatory conditions. we cross-examined these plants regarding their anti-neoplastic properties, because several anti-inflammatory molecular targets are common for both pathologic conditions due to similar signalling pathways. two malignant cell lines, hl-60 and mcf-7, were treated with increasing concentrations of plant extracts of increasing polarity. the potential ...200919724892
rotylenchulus reniformis on greenhouse-grown foliage plants: host range and sources of inoculum.two sources of inoculum of reniform nematodes, rotylenchulus reniformis, were identified for infestation of ornamental foliage plants in commercial greenhouses. these were water from a local canal system and rooted cuttings purchased from other sources. eight ornamental plant species were identified as good hosts for the reniform nematode, with each species supporting a reniform population density equal to or greater than that supported by 'rutgers' tomato and a reproduction factor of greater th ...199119283176
construction of the syngonium podophyllum-pseudomonas sp. xnn8 symbiotic purification system and investigation of its capability of remediating uranium wastewater.the endophyte pseudomonas sp. xnn8 was separated from typha orientalis which can secrete indole-3-acetic acid and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase and siderophores and has strong resistance to uranium it was then colonized in the syngonium podophyllum; and the s. podophyllum-pseudomonas sp. xnn8 symbiotic purification system (sppsps) for uranium-containing wastewater was constructed. afterwards, the hydroponic experiments to remove uranium from uranium-containing wastewater by the spp ...201727023802
[repellent effect of volatile oil from whitefly (syngonium podophyllum) on aphids and its chemical constituents].the interference effect of volatile oil from whitefly (syngonium podophyllum) on aptera aphid, guard aphid (aphis gossypii), mustard aphid (lipaphis erysimi) and red peach aphid (myzus persicae) was studied by using four arms olfraetometes. the results showed that the volatile oil had distinct repelling effect. the staying periods of test aphids in test areas were obviously shorter than in control areas, and the selecting frequencies were less than the control, too. the volatile oil did not show ...200415320409
an artificially constructed syngonium podophyllum-aspergillus niger combinate system for removal of uranium from wastewater.aspergillus niger was inoculated to the roots of five plants, and the syngonium podophyllum-a. niger combinate system (spancs) was found to be the most effective in removing uranium from hydroponic liquid with initial uranium concentration of 5 mg l(-1). furthermore, the hydroponic experiments on the removal of uranium from the hydroponic liquids with initial uranium concentrations of 0.5, 1.0, and 3.0 mg l(-1) by the spancs were conducted, the inhibitory effect of a. niger on the growth of s. p ...201526208659
