new leaf diseases of barley in egypt.leaf diseases of barley were observed also in egypt. from leaves of barley were isolated: helminthosporium teres, h. gramineum, stemphylium vesicarium, alternaria triticina, vlocladium chartarum, acnemonium kiliense, stemphylium spec. accompanied with the pleospora stage. inoculations on both attached and detached leaves showed that all the tested fungi were pathogenic, except acremonium kiliense and ulocladium chartarum.19761037183
antimicrobial, insect sterilizing and ovicidal activity of some cobalt(ii) and cobalt(iii) complexes.twenty-one mixed-ligand complexes of cobalt(ii) and cobalt(iii) have been screened for their antimicrobial, insect sterilizing and ovicidal activities. three of these cobalt(iii) complexes exhibit broad antimicrobial spectra, including against human bacterial pathogens, dermatophytes and plant pathogenic fungi, while one exhibits feeble activity against a human pathogenic bacterium. these results have been compared with the activity of the corresponding cobalt(ii) complexes, which have been foun ...19817200317
synthesis, characterization, spectral studies and antifungal activity of mn(ii), fe(ii), co(ii), ni(ii), cu(ii) and zn(ii) complexes with 2-(4- sulphophenylazo)-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-napthalene disulphonic acid trisodium salt.complexes of the type na(6)[m(hl)(2)(h(2)o)(2)], where m= mn(ii), fe(ii), co(ii), ni(ii), cu(ii) and zn(ii) and na(3)h(2)l= 2-(4-sulphophenylazo)-1,8-dihydroxy 3,6 naphthalene disulphonic acid trisodium salt, have been synthesized and characterized by physico-chemical (elemental analyses, solubility, electrolytic conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurement) and spectral (uv-visible, ir, esr, powder x-ray diffraction) techniques for their structure and studied for their antifungal activity a ...200518365101
evaluation of aerial microbial pollutants in al-haram al-nabawi during pilgrimage of 2013.al-madinah al-munawwarah is the second holiest site in islam. the possibility of new emerging microbes is valid due to the increased number of pilgrims. the objectives of the current study were to estimate the numbers of fungi and bacteria inside and outside al-haram al-nabawi and to find whether new bacterial and fungal species have emerged compared to previous studies. air samples were collected twice a day from 12 spots and four directions during the pilgrim year of 2013 for four consecutive ...201528053593
influence of temperature, precipitation, and cultivar characteristics on changes in the spectrum of pathogenic fungi in winter wheat.in view of the threat posed by climate change, we studied the influence of temperature, precipitation, cultivar characteristics, and technical management measures on the occurrence of phytopathogenic fungi in wheat during 2009-2013. this work involved experiments at two sites differing in average temperatures and precipitation. temperature and precipitation appear to influence differences in the spectrum of phytopathogenic fungi at the individual sites. in 2009 (the warmest year), alternaria tri ...201627975117
cutaneous infection with alternaria triticina in a bilateral lung transplant recipient.we report the case of a 60-year-old man who was receiving immunosuppressive therapy for a bilateral lung transplant and presented with a crusted, violaceous plaque on the left hand. based on histopathology and microbiological culture the patient was diagnosed with infection by alternaria species. treatment with itraconazole led to complete resolution of the skin lesion. forty months later he developed four reddish, nodular, skin lesions on the left leg. analysis of a biopsy from one of these les ...201424440281
impact of the fungus balansia henningsiana on panicum agrostoides: frequency of infection, plant growth and reproduction, and resistance to pests.the impact of the systemic fungus balansia henningsiana (clavicipitaceae) on the grass panicum agrostoides was examined in field and greenhouse studies comparing infected and uninfected plants. approximately one-half of all plants in three populations located in southern indiana were infected. in field samples and greenhouse studies infected plants were significantly heavier than uninfected plants and produced significantly more tillers. infection tended to suppress flowering but occasional asym ...198928312065
fungicidal activity of volatile oil from eucalyptus citriodora hook. against alternaria triticina.use of plant products for the management of phytopathogenic fungi is fast becoming an important component of integrated disease management (i.d.m.) programme. the natural plant products are bio-degradable and thus eco-friendly, are catching the attention of the scientist worldwide. such products from higher plants are relatively broad spectrum, bio-efficacious, economical and environmentally safe. among these essential oils from higher plants because of their greater inhibitory action are being ...200617390838
pcr based molecular technique for identification and discrimination of quarantined and non-quarantined tilletia sps.polymerase chain reaction (pcr) based rapd profiles, in conjunction with six primers, of karnal bunt of wheat and rice bunt exhibiting distinct polymorphic dna. a total of 84 rapd loci were observed on polyacrylamide gel for both tilletia sps. out of 84, 16 loci were found monomorphic, while other 68 loci were unique. usefulness of random primers was also checked with other seed borne fungal pathogens of wheat and rice. none of primers gave amplification with magnaporthe grisea, a causative agen ...200212693693
effects of alternaria triticina and foliar fly ash deposition on growth, yield, photosynthetic pigments, protein and lysine contents of three cultivars of wheat.a greenhouse experiment was conducted to study the effects of alternaria triticina with and without foliar dusting of fly ash (0.0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 g plant(-1)/day(-1)) on the growth, yield, photosynthetic pigments, protein and lysine contents of three cultivars of wheat, triticum aestivum. dusting of 2.5 and 5.0 g fly ash caused a significant increase in growth, yield, photosynthetic pigments, protein and lysine contents of all the three cultivars. dusting of 5.0 g fly ash caused a higher increas ...200312653286
