ralstonia respiraculi sp. nov., isolated from the respiratory tract of cystic fibrosis patients.five isolates recovered from the respiratory tract of cystic fibrosis patients were included in a polyphasic taxonomic study that employed 16s rdna sequence analysis, cellular protein and fatty acid analysis and biochemical characterization. four isolates were classified as a novel ralstonia species, for which the name ralstonia respiraculi sp. nov. is proposed; the other isolate was phylogenetically closely related to r. respiraculi, but is likely to represent another novel ralstonia species. t ...200313130016
wautersia gen. nov., a novel genus accommodating the phylogenetic lineage including ralstonia eutropha and related species, and proposal of ralstonia [pseudomonas] syzygii (roberts et al. 1990) comb. nov.comparative 16s rdna sequence analysis indicates that two distinct sublineages, with a sequence dissimilarity of >4 % (bootstrap value, 100 %), exist within the genus ralstonia: the ralstonia eutropha lineage, which comprises ralstonia basilensis, ralstonia campinensis, r. eutropha, ralstonia gilardii, ralstonia metallidurans, ralstonia oxalatica, ralstonia paucula, ralstonia respiraculi and ralstonia taiwanensis; and the ralstonia pickettii lineage, which comprises ralstonia insidiosa, ralstoni ...200415023939
taxonomy of the genus cupriavidus: a tale of lost and found.dna-dna hybridization experiments and an evaluation of phenotypic characteristics, dna base ratios and 16s rrna gene sequences demonstrated that wautersia eutropha (davies 1969) vaneechoutte et al. 2004, the type species of the genus wautersia, is a later synonym of cupriavidus necator makkar and casida 1987, the type species of the genus cupriavidus. in conformity with rules 15, 17, 23a and 37a(1) of the international code of nomenclature of bacteria, the genus name cupriavidus has priority ove ...200415545472
use of pcr analyses to define the distribution of ralstonia species recovered from patients with cystic fibrosis.two new pcr assays (for ralstonia species and ralstonia respiraculi), together with previously published pcr assays, were used to assess ralstonia isolates recovered from 111 cystic fibrosis patients. ralstonia mannitolilytica accounted for 46% of isolates, while r. respiraculi and ralstonia pickettii accounted for 19% and 18%, respectively. ralstonia basilensis and ralstonia metallidurans, species not previously recovered from human samples, were also identified.200516000479
[use of 16s rrna gene sequencing for identification of "pseudomonas-like" isolates from sputum of patients with cystic fibrosis].since nonfermenting, gram negative bacilli recovered from patients with cystic fibrosis could be misidentified with phenotypic procedures, we used partial 16s ribosomal rna gene (16s gene) sequencing to identify these "pseudomonas-like" isolates. 473 isolates were recovered from 66 patients in 2003. sequencing was used to identify 29 (from 24 patients) of the 473 isolates, showing unclear results with routine tests. pcr with specific primers was carried out to amplify a 995 bp fragment, which wa ...200516081224
matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry for identification of nonfermenting gram-negative bacilli isolated from cystic fibrosis patients.the identification of nonfermenting gram-negative bacilli isolated from cystic fibrosis (cf) patients is usually achieved by using phenotype-based techniques and eventually molecular tools. these techniques remain time-consuming, expensive, and technically demanding. we used a method based on matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (maldi-tof-ms) for the identification of these bacteria. a set of reference strains belonging to 58 species of clinically relevan ...200818685005
cupriavidus plantarum sp. nov., a plant-associated species.during a survey of plant-associated bacteria in northeast mexico, a group of 13 bacteria was isolated from agave, maize and sorghum plants rhizosphere. this group of strains was related to cupriavidus respiraculi (99.4 %), but a polyphasic investigation based on dna-dna hybridization analysis, other genotypic studies and phenotypic features showed that this group of strains actually belongs to a new cupriavidus species. consequently, taking all the results together, the description of cupriavidu ...201425098225
