microbiologic transformation of progesterone by curvularia clavata jain.progesterone was transformed microbiologically by the fungal strain curvularia clavata jain. progesterone (i) was added as substrate when the microorganism reached its exponential growth phase. three substances were isolated after the fermentation: a non-steroidal substance, radicinin (ii), which has been established to be a metabolic product of the fungus and acts as a phytotoxin, and two steroidal substances which resulted from fungal enzymatic action on the progesterone molecule. the structur ...19902309253
invasive sinusitis and cerebritis due to curvularia clavata in an immunocompetent adult. 199910194103
fungal endophytes in five medicinal plant species from kudremukh range, western ghats of india.eighteen species of endophytic fungi were isolated from bark, stem and leaf segments of five medicinal plant species growing within the kudremukh range in the western ghats of india. the dominant endophytic fungal species isolated from these plant species were curvularia clavata, c. lunata, c. pallescens and fusarium oxysporum. the highest species richness as well as frequency of colonization of endophytic fungi was found in the leaf segments, rather than the stem and bark segments, of the host ...200515900544
cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis of foot caused by curvularia clavata.a case of cutaneous lesions on the left foot caused by curvularia clavata in a 64-year-old immunocompetent man is described. fungal elements were found in the exudate and biopsy specimen. the isolate was identified as c. clavata based on its colonial and microscopic morphology in pure culture. the skin lesions healed after a 12-week regimen with oral fluconazole. this is the second case of cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis caused by c. clavata.200919076281
the presence of fungi on contact electrical stimulation electrodes and ultrasound transducers in physiotherapy clinics.to evaluate the presence of fungi on contact electrodes and ultrasound transducers from physiotherapy clinics.201122051582
diversity of microfungi in sandy beach soil of teluk aling, pulau pinang.a total of 82 isolates of microfungi were isolated from 6 sandy soil samples collected from teluk aling beach, pulau pinang. the soil microfungi were isolated by using direct isolation, debris isolation and soil dilution techniques. based on morphological characteristics, seven genera of microfungi were identified namely, fusarium (42%), aspergillus (24%), trichoderma (13%), curvularia (9%), colletotrichum (6%), helminthosporium (4%) and penicillium (2%). the most common species isolated was fus ...201124575210
biodecolorization of recalcitrant dye as the sole sourceof nutrition using curvularia clavata nz2 and decolorization ability of its crude enzymes.extensive use of recalcitrant azo dyes in textile and paper industries poses a direct threat to the environment due to the carcinogenicity of their degradation products. the aim of this study was to investigate the efficiency of curvularia clavata nz2 in decolorization of azo dyes. the ability of the fungus to decolorize azo dyes can be evaluated as an important outcome as existing effluent treatment is unable to remove the dyes effectively. c. clavata has the ability to decolorize reactive blac ...201525850745
decolorization of palm oil mill effluent using growing cultures of curvularia clavata.agricultural wastewater that produces color are of environmental and health concern as colored effluent can produce toxic and carcinogenic by-products. from this study, batch culture optimization using response surface methods indicated that the fungus isolated from the pineapple solid waste, curvularia clavata was able to decolorize sterile palm oil mill effluent (pome) which is mainly associated with polyphenol and lignin. results showed successful decolorization of pome up to 80 % (initial ad ...201424327114
