studies on the specificities of various anti-h reagents.four different eel serum samples and the lectins cytisus sessilifolius and evonymus europaeus were examined for their capacities to react with a number of preparations which show o(h) blood group-like activity. some similarities and major differences between the anti-h reagents were observed in experiments where the "h-like" activities of invertebrate extracts and blood group substances were compared. a comparison of the reactivities of eel sera, catfish anti-h sera and 4 anti-h lectins with a n ...1975241165
[labelling endothelial cells with the lectins from cytisus sessilifolius and ulex europaeus; comparison between human and animal cells].cytisus sessilifolius agglutinin (csa) was compared with ulex europaeus agglutinin (uea1) for labelling endothelial cells fixed and embedded in paraffin. human profile characterized by a dimorphism shown by uea1 with a positive preponderant population and a minor negative one is never found in tested animals. csa does not mark any endothelial cell in man but reveals endothelial cells in swine, sheep, ox, dog. a dimorphism exists in ox with the same repartition as the one shown in man by uea1.19852939930
assignment of lectins specific for d-galactose or n-acetyl-d-galactosamine to two groups, based on their circular dichroism.the circular dichroism (cd) spectra of thirteen lectins, most being specific for d-galactose or n-acetyl-d-galactosamine, were compared. two groupings are proposed on the basis of the cd in the near-ultraviolet region. group one comprises the lectins from arachis hypogaea, glycine max, phaseolus coccineus, p. lunatus, p. vulgaris, and vicia villosa, and group two comprises lectins from caragana arborescens, cytisus sessilifolius, dolichos biflorus, griffonia simplicifolia, and wisteria floribund ...19854016573
lectins in precipitin reactions with soluble h substance of human saliva and serum.lectins that precipitate the soluble h substances of saliva were produced for the first time from the four commonly used sources of seed. in ouchterlony precipitin reactions, identity was observed between extracts of cytisus sessilifolius and laburnum alpinum, but these extracts displayed incomplete identity with extracts from ulex europaeus. these three sources of the precipitating lectin formed bands when tested with saliva from all secretors and none with saliva from nonsecretors. extracts fr ...19734198001

a putative carbohydrate-binding domain of the lactose-binding cytisus sessilifolius anti-h(o) lectin has a similar amino acid sequence to that of the l-fucose-binding ulex europaeus anti-h(o) lectin.the complete amino acid sequence of a lactose-binding cytisus sessilifolius anti-h(o) lectin ii (csa-ii) was determined using a protein sequencer. after digestion of csa-ii with endoproteinase lys-c or asp-n, the resulting peptides were purified by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (hplc) and then subjected to sequence analysis. comparison of the complete amino acid sequence of csa-ii with the sequences of other leguminous seed lectins revealed regions of extensive homology. ...19957620329
a unique amino acid sequence involved in the putative carbohydrate-binding domain of a legume lectin specific for sialylated carbohydrate chains: primary sequence determination of maackia amurensis hemagglutinin (mah).the primary sequence of 247 amino acids of maackia amurensis hemagglutinin (mah) was determined using a protein sequencer. after digestion with endoproteinase lys-c, asp-n, arg-c, or glu-c of mah, the resulting peptides were purified by reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography (hplc) and then subjected to sequence analysis. the primary sequence of mah was compared with those of several legume lectins, and it was found that the amino acid sequence of the putative carbohydrate-binding ...19948089095
correlation between carbohydrate-binding specificity and amino acid sequence of carbohydrate-binding regions of cytisus-type anti-h(o) lectins.a carbohydrate-binding peptide of the di-n-acetylchitobiose-binding cytisus sessilifolius anti-h(o) lectin i (csa-i) was isolated from the endoproteinase asp-n digest of csa-i by affinity chromatography on a column of n-acetyl-d-glucosamine oligomer-sepharose (glcnac oligomer-sepharose). the amino acid sequence of the carbohydrate-binding peptide of csa-i was determined to be dtyfgktynpw using a gas-phase protein sequencer. this sequence corresponds to the sequence from asp-129 to trp-139 based ...19921618311
erythrina lectins detect the h/hi blood groups.the lectin purified from erythrina corallodendron seeds which binds n-acetyllactosamine greater than n-acetyl-d-galactosamine greater than alpha and beta galactosides greater than d-galactose was examined for its abo(h) blood group specificity. it has been shown that this lectin causes the strongest hemagglutination of o(h) and weakest of oh(bombay) red blood cells, and interacts with the h antigen in association with the i antigen. the reactions of erythrina corallodendron and erythrina indica ...19911741915
purification and characterization of two types of cytisus sessilifolius anti-h(o) lectins by affinity chromatography.two anti-h(o) lectins were separated from extracts of cytisus sessilifolius seeds by successive affinity chromatographies on columns of di-n-acetylchitobiose- and galactose-sepharose 4b. one was found to be inhibited most by di-n-acetylchitotriose or tri-n-acetylchitotriose [cytisus-type anti-h(o) lectin designated as cytisus sessilifolius lectin i (csa-i)] and the other anti-h(o) lectin was inhibited by galactose or lactose and designated as cytisus sessilifolius lectin ii (csa-ii). these two a ...19911859626
structural differences between two lectins from cytisus scoparius, both specific for d-galactose and n-acetyl-d-galactosamine.three lectin fractions were obtained from seeds of the leguminous plant cytisus scoparius (scotch broom) by means of affinity chromatography on a n-acetyl-d-galactosamine medium. the first fraction, termed csia, was equally well inhibited in haemagglutination experiments by d-galactose and by n-acetyl-d-galactosamine and consisted of a group of isolectins formed from closely related polypeptide chains of approx. mr 30000. the second fraction, csib, was closely related to csia in specificity, c.d ...19846477513
on the specificity of mushroom pleurotus ostreatus and pleurotus spodoleucus extracts.extracts of mushrooms pleurotus ostreatus and pleurotus spodoleucus contain hemagglutinins with anti-h specificity similar to those found in cytisus sessilifolius and laburnum alpinum.19751169858
