nontuberculous mycobacteria (ntm) are a diverse group of environmental organisms that infrequently cause human disease. understanding of the epidemiologic and clinical characteristics associated with ntm disease is needed to refine diagnostic and treatment strategies, particularly among the less commonly isolated species.
