observations on the potential for natural transfer of psoroptes cuniculi and chorioptes bovis (acari: psoroptidae) between goats and sheep.goats and sheep were pastured together and held in close contact in yards twice a month for 21 months. the goats had a high prevalence of both the rabbit ear canker mite, psoroptes cuniculi and the chorioptic mange mite, chorioptes bovis. the sheep were not infested with p. cuniculi at the beginning of the study and viable c. bovis could not be detected. at no time during the study did p. cuniculi establish in the ears of sheep, despite a maximum prevalence of >95% p. cuniculi in goats. this may ...198916031519
the prevalence and pathogenicity of chorioptes bovis (hering, 1845) and psoroptes cuniculi (delafond, 1859) (acari: psoroptidae) infestations in feral goats in new zealand.between october 1976 and january 1980 a total of 368 feral goats was examined in new zealand for the presence of chorioptes bovis and 434 for the presence of psoroptes cuniculi. the seasonal pattern of c. bovis infestation in feral goats was similar to that seen in sheep and cattle. the prevalence of infestation reached 100% in july and august (winter) and declined to 27% in february and march (summer). fewer goats were infested with p. cuniculi and prevalence of infestation reached a maximum of ...19836605609
the incidence of chorioptes bovis (acarina: psoroptidae) on the feet of horses, sheep, and goats in the netherlands.the feet of horses, sheep, and goats of different breeds and from many different localities were examined for chorioptes bovis. in horses, mites were mainly found in the belgian and frisian breeds (40% and 62% infected, respectively). in sheep and goats, respectively 63% and 86% were infected. in horses as well as in sheep and goats, mange-lesions were rarely seen. a number of sheep and goats were examined for mites and lesions quantitatively. in sheep all mites were restricted to the region clo ...19854071949
arthropod parasites of nubian ibexes (capra ibex nubiana) and gazelles (gazella gazella) in israel.in a 20-year survey the following ectoparasites were collected from nubian ibexes: larvae of an unidentified oestrus sp. collected from the nasal cavities, sinuses and horns, hippoboscid flies (lipoptena chalcomelaena) specific to the nubian ibex, blood sucking lice (linognathus africanus) and unidentified biting lice (damalinia sp.). ibexes were severely infested with the cattle tick, boophilus annulatus; a few hyalomma anatolicum excavatum ticks were also collected. in five ibexes kept in two ...199910392972
efficacy of acaricides against chorioptic mange of goats.angora goats heavily infested with chorioptes bovis were dipped one time in either 0.05% amitraz, 0.27% coumaphos, 0.05% fenvalerate, or 0.03% lindane. control of the mites by the single dips was evaluated for 21 days. amitraz caused 98% mortality of the mites initially. both coumaphos and lindane caused greater than 85% mortality at 3 days, but mite numbers increased rapidly thereafter. only fenvalerate killed all of the mites.19882456707
