a survey of free-living falconiform birds for salmonella.of 105 migrating falconiform birds of 7 species examined for salmonella shedding in new jersey, 2 (1.9%) were positive for salmonella spp. both positive birds were immature red-tailed hawks (buteo jamaicensis). salmonella enteritidis and s newport were the serotypes isolated. neither serotype expressed multiple resistance when tested against a panel of 12 antimicrobial drugs.19863506002
