the malaria threat to the army in hong kong.changes in mosquito ecology and active anti-vector measures abolished endemic malaria transmission in hong kong by 1969. unfortunately, endemic transmission of p. vivax reappeared in 1977. the threat posed to the british army in hong kong however, appears to be small (5 cases since 1983), and restricted to areas close to the border with the peoples republic of china. malaria biology and protective measures are discussed.19863537283
