[tungiasis and tetanus at the university hospital center in brazzaville]. | just like other tropical countries, congo is not free from tetanus. over a period of 11 months the authors treated 44 cases where tetanus entered by various means. the removal of a chick-flea (tunga penetrans) leaves a hole through which the tetanus spore can penetrate: this accounted for 25% of the cases (11 cases). in the group under observation, no death attributable to tetanus occurred. | 1989 | 2491384 |
