sphingomonas paucimobilis bacteremia in humans: 16 case reports and a literature review.sphingomonas paucimobilis is a glucose-nonfermenting gram-negative bacillus that is widely distributed in both natural environment and hospitals. various infections in humans have been reported, but most have been limited to sporadic case reports. the aim of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics and manifestations of s. paucimobilis bacteremia. we also reviewed the literature on s. paucimobilis bacteremia.201020434121
Sphingomonas formosensis sp. nov., a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons degrading-bacterium isolated from agricultural soil.In the present study, a yellow pigmented, Gram-negative, short rod-shaped novel bacterium was isolated from agricultural soil located in Yunlin County, Taiwan. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis positioned the novel strain in the genus Sphingomonas as an independent lineage adjacent to a subclade containing Sphingomonas fennica K101(T), Sphingomonas histidinilytica UM2(T), Sphingomonas wittichii RW1(T), and Sphingomonas haloaromaticamans A175(T). The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis of s ...201121873513
proposal of sphingomicrobium lutaoense gen. nov. sp. nov., isolated from a coastal hot spring of green island (lutao).a yellowish pigmented, gram-negative, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacterium (strain cc-tbt-3t), was isolated from coastal hot spring of green island (lutao), located off taituang, taiwan, on marine agar 2216. the 16s rrna gene sequence analysis of strain cc-tbt-3t showed a relatively low (< 95.5%) to representatives of the genera novosphingobium, sphingosinicella and sphingomonas of the sphingomonadaceae with novosphingobium soli as the most similar species. beside the relatively low 16s rrna ...201121828023
isolation and physiological characterization of the pentachlorophenol degrading bacterium sphingomonas chlorophenolica.many chlorophenols tend to persist in the environment, and they may become public health hazards. among chlorophenols, pentachlorophenol (pcp) is a priority pollutant that has been used widely as a general biocide in commercial wood treatment. owing to the rapid industrial growth, serious soil and water pollutions by chlorophenols has been reported in taiwan. in this study, 10 indigenous pcp-degrading bacterial strains were isolated from a pcp-degrading mixed culture, and the potential of both t ...200616005492
association between contaminated faucets and colonization or infection by nonfermenting gram-negative bacteria in intensive care units in taiwan.this study was designed to determine the strength of the association between the isolation of nonfermentative gram-negative bacilli (nfgnb) from tap water faucet aerators and the prevalence of colonization or infection of patients in intensive care units (icus). surveillance cultures were obtained during a 4-month period from 162 faucet aerators located in seven different icus. the prevalence of colonization or infection of icu patients with nfgnb was determined by prospective surveillance durin ...200919587299
