[epidemiologic problems of gastrointestinal infections in children 0 to 2 years of age].the analysis is presented of certain epidemiological problems based on a material including 774 cases of gastrointestinal infections hospitalized in two paediatric centres of the province paediatric hospital in warsaw in the years 1979/1981/1983. faeces were examined obtained from children aged 0 to 24 months treated in hospital for diarrhoea. the material was presented in tables and was subjected to statistical analysis. the absolute number of the treated infants with diarrhoea increased succes ...19892629324
outbreak of ceftazidime-resistant klebsiella pneumoniae in a pediatric hospital in warsaw, poland: clonal spread of the tem-47 extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (esbl)-producing strain and transfer of a plasmid carrying the shv-5-like esbl-encoding gene.in 1996 a large, 300-bed pediatric hospital in warsaw, poland, started a program of monitoring infections caused by extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (esbl)-producing microorganisms. over the first 3-month period eight klebsiella pneumoniae isolates were identified as being resistant to ceftazidime. six of these were found to produce the tem-47 esbl, which we first described in a k. pneumoniae strain recovered a year before in a pediatric hospital in lódź, poland, which is 140 km from warsaw. typ ...19989835494
a novel complex mutant beta-lactamase, tem-68, identified in a klebsiella pneumoniae isolate from an outbreak of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing klebsiellae.twenty-two klebsiella pneumoniae and two k. oxytoca extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (esbl)-producing isolates were collected in 1996 from patients in two pediatric wards of the university hospital in wrocław, poland. molecular typing has revealed that the k. pneumoniae isolates represented four different epidemic strains. three kinds of enzymes with esbl activity (pi values of 5.7, 6.0, and 8.2) were identified. the pi 6.0 beta-lactamases belonged to the tem family, and sequencing of the bla(te ...200010817699
countrywide spread of ctx-m-3 extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing microorganisms of the family enterobacteriaceae in poland.eighty-four clinical isolates of the family enterobacteriaceae, recovered from 1998 to 2000 in 15 hospitals in 10 polish cities, were analyzed. all the isolates produced beta-lactamases with pis of 8.4 and 5.4, and the pi 8.4 enzymes were demonstrated to hydrolyze cefotaxime but not ceftazidime in the in vitro bioassay. pcr analysis and dna sequencing have revealed that in all cases the pi 8.4 beta-lactamase was probably the ctx-m-3 extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (esbl) variant, which was orig ...200211751126
[dissemination of the kpc carbapenemase producing klebsiella pneumoniae in a hospital in warsaw, poland].within the last decade, human infections caused by enterobacteria which produce the klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (kpc) became a serious therapeutic and epidemiological problem worldwide. the kpc producing strains of k. pneumoniae broadly disseminated in the usa then spread to europe. recently, the kpc-2 was found in poland. in the presented study we tested 11 ertapenem resistant isolates of k. pneumoniae. the isolates were obtained from 10 patients of a regular hospital (rh) and from one ...201020564966
emergence of klebsiella pneumoniae coproducing kpc-2 and 16s rrna methylase arma in poland.a klebsiella pneumoniae epidemic strain that coproduced carbapenemase kpc-2 (k. pneumoniae carbapenemase 2) and 16s rrna methylase arma has emerged in poland. four nonduplicate isolates from patients in a hospital in warsaw, poland, were found to carry the bla(kpc-2) and arma genes on ca. 50-kb and 90-kb plasmids, respectively. tn4401 with a 100-bp deletion in the variable region was detected in all the isolates. xbai pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (pfge) revealed 93.2% similarity of the isola ...201020956599
[occurrence of 16s rrna methylase arma producing enterobacteriaceae in a general hospital in warsaw, poland].resistance to gentamicin, amikacin and kanamycin was screened in 270 clinical isolates of enterobacteriaceae originated from april 19 to may 19, 2010 in a regular hospital in warsaw, poland. most of the isolated bacteria were considered pathogenic. nineteen isolates (7%) were simultaneously resistant to two or three of the tested aminoglycosides. mics of the three aminoglycosides ranged form 128 to 1024 mcg/ml for six isolates. these isolates were suspected to produce 16s rrna methylase. genes e ...201021114012
Molecular characteristics of KPC-producing Enterobacteriaceae at the early stage of their dissemination in Poland, 2008-2009.After the first report in May 2008, the National Reference Center for Susceptibility Testing confirmed 113 cases of infection or colonization by KPC-producing members of the family Enterobacteriaceae in Poland by the end of 2009. The vast majority of patients were found in 18 hospitals; three patients were diagnosed at outpatient clinics. Most of the institutions were in the Warsaw area, including three hospitals with the highest numbers of cases. When available, the data on previous hospitaliza ...201121930889
