[human dirofilariasis in southern italy. iii. the molise region].

a case of subcutaneous human dirofilariasis associated with dirofilaria repens in the arm of a 9-year-old child resident in campobasso is described. it is the first report of the nematode in the molise region. blood samples taken from dogs in the same region, confirmed the presence of d. repens microfilariae in the natural reservoir, few km from the clinical case.
