fiber sequence heterogeneity in subgroup f adenoviruses.the fiber gene of adenovirus type 41 was sequenced and compared to the fiber gene sequence of adenovirus type 40 (a. h. kidd and m. j. erasmus, 1989, virology 172, 134-144), the other known member of subgroup f. the open reading frame, from map units 87 through 92 with transcription from the r-strand, comprised 1686 bases and was 45 bases longer than its counterpart on the ad40 genome. the 45-base difference appears to have resulted from a block deletion on the ad40 sequence. apart from this one ...19902219717
adenovirus 41 growth in semi-permissive cells shows multiple-hit kinetics.adenovirus type 41 infection of semi-permissive chang conjunctival cells, monitored by fluorescent focus assay, followed multiple-hit kinetics. in non-permissive human cells, type 41 showed infectivity with two-hit kinetics in the presence of type 2. type 41 infectivity was seen to be directly proportional to input concentration (one-hit) only in 293 cells, a continuous human line expressing ad 5 e1 products.19902317153
evaluation of a commercial monoclonal antibody-based enzyme immunoassay for detection of adenovirus types 40 and 41 in stool specimens.a commercial monoclonal antibody-based enzyme immunoassay (adenoscreen; mercia diagnostics ltd., guildford, united kingdom) for the detection of adenovirus types 40 and 41 in stool specimens was evaluated. two assay modes were tested. in the first, 177 stool samples were screened for the presence of adenovirus type 40 or 41 (assay mode 1). virus was detected in 79 of 82 specimens positive for adenovirus type 40 or 41 by a polyclonal antibody-based immune electron microscope test, giving a sensit ...19892546968
monoclonal antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for specific identification and typing of subgroup f adenoviruses.monoclonal antibody specific for subgroup f enteric adenoviruses (eads) was prepared by fusing p3-ns1/ag4-1 mouse myeloma cells with lymphocytes from balb/c mice immunized with g1105, an adenovirus type 41 (ad41) strain. monoclone 3f11/2h9, which specifically recognized ad41, was successfully used as detector antibody in an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (elisa). additionally, previously prepared monoclones 5d8/2c2 and 2h6/1e11, recognizing ad40 plus ad41 and ad40 alone, respectively, were us ...19883343324
identification of adenoviruses in faeces from patients with diarrhoea at the hospitals for sick children, london, 1989-1992.faecal samples from 137 patients that had been shown to contain adenoviruses by electron microscopy were identified in a series of enzyme immunoassays (eia) using a single monoclonal antibody (mab) to adenovirus 40 and four different mabs to adenovirus 41. adenoviruses were partially characterised by restriction enzyme analysis (rea) of dna extracts using smai. samples were also run in a commercial eia (adenovirus ideia; dako, ltd.) which detects group antigen. the majority (84%) of adenoviruses ...19948083654
genetic organization, size, and complete sequence of early region 3 genes of human adenovirus type 41.the complete nucleotide and predicted amino acid sequences for open reading frames (orfs) of the human adenovirus type 41 (ad41) early region 3 (e3) gene have been determined. the sequence of the ad41 e3 gene (map units 74 to 83.9) consists of 3,373 nucleotides and has one tata box and two polyadenylation signals (aataaa). analysis of the nucleotide sequence reveals that the e3 gene can encode six orfs, designated rl1 to rl6. these are all expressed at the mrna level, as determined by reverse tr ...19968642703
characterizations of adenovirus type 41 isolates from children with acute gastroenteritis in japan, vietnam, and korea.genetic and antigenic characterizations of 70 strains of adenovirus type 41 (ad41), isolated between 1998 and 2001 from children in japan, vietnam, and korea, were done by dna restriction enzyme (re) analysis, sequencing analysis, and monoclonal antibody (mab)-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (elisa). eight genome types were observed in the present study, among which d25, d26, d27, and d28 were novel genome types. these eight genome types were divided into two genome-type clusters (gtcs) ...200415364986
prevalence and characterization of enteric adenoviruses in the south of ireland.enteric adenoviruses have been shown to be a substantial cause of pediatric gastroenteritis in various parts of the world, and are considered to be the second most common cause of viral gastroenteritis, next to rotavirus in young children. genetic characterization of 95 adenovirus isolates obtained from patients with acute gastroenteritis between 2002 and 2007 from the southern regions of ireland, were characterized by pcr analysis, restriction endonuclease (re) analysis and sequencing analysis. ...200717705179
generation and biological properties of a recombinant dodecahedron containing the short fiber protein of the human adenovirus 41.objective: in order to gain further insight into the function of the enteric adenovirus short fiber (sf), we have constructed a recombinant dodecahedron containing the sf protein of hadv-41 and the hadv-3 penton base. methods: recombinant baculoviruses expressing the hadv-41 sf protein and hadv-3 penton base were cloned and amplified in sf9 insect cells. recombinant dodecahedra were expressed by coinfection of high fiveā„¢ cells with both baculoviruses, 72 h post-infection. cell lysate was centrif ...201122057164
