ultramicroscopic structure of intrasporangium calvum (actinomycetales).the electron microscopic observation of vesicles formed by intrasporangium calvum revealed that they do not contain spores. it thus seems that these vesicles should not be called sporangia. isolation and study of three other strains of actinomycetes forming similar vesicles indicated that such structures can be formed by actinomycetes with very different properties. the taxonomic value of vesicle formation in actinomycetes is questioned.19695344111
[viability study of actinomycete cultures preserved for a long time on agar media].viability of 254 actinomycetous strains stored for 1 to 6 years on agarized media a temperature of 4-10 degrees c without passages was studied. the cultures included 204 strain of actinomyces, 26 strains of mycobacterium, 2 strains of streptosporangium, 1 strain of intrasporangium, 2 strains of micropolyspora and 5 strains of thermoactinomyces. most of the cultures, i.e. 94.55 per cent stored for 6 years remained vialbe after the this period. with an increase in the storage period from 1 to 4 ye ...1978655683
numerical classification of streptomyces and related genera.four hundred and seventy-five strains, which included 394 type cultures of streptomyces and representatives of 14 other actinomycete genera, were studied. overall similarities of these strains for 139 unit characters were determined by the ssm and sj coefficients and clustering by the upgma algorithm. test error and overlap between the phena defined were within acceptable limits. cluster-groups were defined by the ssm coefficient at the 70.1% similarity (s) level and by the sj coefficient at the ...19836631406

polyamine profiles within genera of the class actinobacteria with ll-diaminopimelic acid in the peptidoglycan.polyamine patterns of coryne- and nocardioform representatives of the class actinobacteria with ll-diaminopimelic acid in the peptidoglycan, comprising strains of the genera aeromicrobium, nocardioides, intrasporangium, terrabacter, terracoccus, propioniferax, friedmanniella, microlunatus, luteococcus and sporichthya, were analysed. the different polyamine patterns were in good agreement with the phylogenetic heterogeneity within this group of actinomycetes. strains of the closely related genera ...199910028260
arsenicicoccus bolidensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel actinomycete isolated from contaminated lake sediment.an unknown gram-positive, catalase-positive, facultatively anaerobic, non-spore-forming, coccus-shaped bacterium originating from sediment was characterized using phenotypic, molecular chemical and molecular phylogenetic methods. chemical studies revealed the presence of a cell-wall murein based on ll-diaminopimelic acid (type ll-dpm-glycine(1)), a complex mixture of saturated, monounsaturated and iso- and anteiso-methyl-branched, non-hydroxylated, long-chain cellular fatty acids and tetrahydrog ...200415023982
a quantitative assay for linking microbial community function and structure of a naphthalene-degrading microbial consortium.a comprehensive culture-independent assay, called q-fast, was developed for concurrent identification and quantification of active microorganisms involved a specific function in a given microbial community. the development of q-fast was achieved by integrating the concept of stable isotope probing technique into a new quantitative fingerprinting assay called real-time-t-rflp for microbial community structure analysis. the q-fast was successfully validated by using a three-member artificial micro ...200516475342
