geographical distribution of pseudomonas pseudomallei in china.1,366 samples of soil and water from southern china coastal provinces were examined for pseudomonas pseudomallei. data showed that 58 samples were positive for this bacteria, which is primarily distributed in hainan province and the coastal region of mainland. this paper confirmed the environmental presence of p. pseudomallei in china and showed that the distribution of this pathogen has at least reached a latitude of 25.5 degrees north.19959139366
high levels of genetic differentiation of oryza officinalis wall. ex watt. from china.in order to determine the population genetic structure of wild rice (oryza officinalis wall. ex watt.), an endangered tropical and subtropical species, allozyme diversity encoded by 24 loci was analyzed electrophoretically in 145 individuals of eight natural populations from hainan, guangxi, and yunnan provinces, china. a fairly high genetic differentiation (f(st) = 0.882 and mean i = 0.786) was found among the studied populations. our results suggest that restricted gene flow may play a signifi ...200111948221
low frequency of transgene flow from bt/cpti rice to its non-transgenic counterparts planted at close spacing.crop-to-crop transgene flow will affect seed purity of non-gm rice varieties, leading to unwanted consequences. to assess the maximum probability of transgene outflow in rice (oryza sativa), gene flow experiments were conducted with three cultivation patterns with different mixed-planting proportions of adjacent gm and non-gm rice at two sites in fujian and hainan provinces of china. three gm rice lines containing two insect-resistance genes (bt/cpti) and their non-gm counterparts were used in t ...200516313639
cytoplasm affects grain weight and filled-grain ratio in indica rice.cytoplasmic effects on agronomic traits--involving cytoplasmic and nuclear genomes of either different species or different cultivars--are well documented in wheat but have seldom been demonstrated in rice (oryza sativa l.). to detect cytoplasmic effects, we introgressed the nuclear genomes of three indica cultivars--guichao 2, jiangchengkugu, and dianrui 449--into the cytoplasms of six indica cultivars - dijiaowujian, shenglixian, zhuzhan, nantehao, aizizhan, and peta. these 18 nuclear substitu ...201121631950
genome-wide multilocus analysis of intraspecific differentiation in oryza rufipogon griff. from china and the influence of introgression from o. sativa l.twenty-five populations of oryza rufipogon from china and 144 cultivars of oryza sativa were selected for this study. based on the dna fragment of ehd1-4 and subspecies-specific sequence-tagged site markers in different chromosomes, intraspecific differentiation in o. rufipogon from china was analyzed. the introgression from o. sativa to o. rufipogon was also analyzed based on simple sequence repeat markers. the results revealed that the dna fragment of ehd1-4 could distinguish the o. sativa sub ...201324338404
microsporomyces hainanensis sp. nov., isolated from hybrid rice (oryza sativa l.) seeds.a total of five strains were isolated from two different hybrid rice seeds samples (oryza sativa l. shenliangyou 5814 and yliangyou 900) in sanya city, hainan province, china. sequence analysis and physiological characteristics indicated that these strains were identical and represented a novel species. molecular phylogenetic analysis of the d1/d2 domain of the large subunit rrna gene and the internal transcribed spacer regions revealed that this new species is located in the microsporomyces cla ...201627447796
