studies on organic and in-organic biostimulants in bioremediation of diesel-contaminated arable soil.in this study, use of inorganic fertilizer (n.p.k) was compared with organic manure (compost) in the bioremediation of diesel-polluted agricultural soil over a two-month period. renewal by enhanced natural attenuation was used as control. the results revealed that total petroleum hydrocarbon removal from polluted soil was 71.40 ± 5.60% and 93.31 ± 3.60% for n.p.k and compost amended options, respectively. the control (natural attenuation) had 57.90 ± 3.98% of total petroleum hydrocarbon removed. ...201627494315
transformation of litchi pericarp-derived condensed tannin with aspergillus awamori.condensed tannin is a ubiquitous polyphenol in plants that possesses substantial antioxidant capacity. in this study, we have investigated the polyphenol extraction recovery and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (dpph) scavenging activity of the extracted polyphenol after litchi pericarp is treated with aspergillus awamori, aspergillus sojae or aspergillus oryzae. we have further explored the activity of a. awamori in the formation of condensed tannin. the treatment of a. awamori appeared to produce ...201627420043
biohydrogen production in the suspended and attached microbial growth systems from waste pastry hydrolysate.waste pastry was hydrolyzed by glucoamylase and protease which were obtained from solid state fermentation of aspergillus awamori and aspergillus oryzae to produce waste pastry hydrolysate. then, the effects of hydraulic retention times (hrts) (4-12h) on hydrogen production rate (hpr) in the suspended microbial growth system (continuous stirred tank reactor, cstr) and attached microbial growth system (continuous mixed immobilized sludge reactor, cmisr) from waste pastry hydrolysate were investig ...201627416509
species distribution and in vitro azole susceptibility of aspergillus section nigri isolates from clinical and environmental settings.aspergillus section nigri includes species of interest for animal and human health, although studies on species distribution are limited to human cases. data on the antifungal susceptibilities and the molecular mechanism of triazole resistance in strains belonging to this section are scant. forty-two black aspergillus strains from human patients (16 isolates), animals (14 isolates), and the environment (12 isolates) were molecularly characterized and their in vitro triazole susceptibilities inve ...201627413191
valorization of bakery waste for biocolorant and enzyme production by monascus purpureus.a concept of utilizing bakery waste as a nutrient source for the fermentative production of bio-colorant by monasucus purpureus has been developed. the proposed ideas provide an innovative approach to establish a system or method to reduce the bakery waste problem encountered by hong kong or other countries. bakery waste collected from bakery store was used in submerged and solid-state fermentation of monascus purpureus to produce bio-colorant, which could potentially be applied in food and text ...201627208753
continuous biohydrogen production from waste bread by anaerobic sludge.in this study, continuous biohydrogen production from waste bread by anaerobic sludge was performed. the waste bread was first hydrolyzed by the crude enzymes which were generated by aspergillus awamori and aspergillus oryzae via solid-state fermentation. it was observed that 49.78g/l glucose and 284.12mg/l free amino nitrogen could be produced with waste bread mass ratio of 15% (w/v). the waste bread hydrolysate was then used for biohydrogen production by anaerobic sludge in a continuous stirre ...201627065225
aspergillus tubingensis and aspergillus niger as the dominant black aspergillus, use of simple pcr-rflp for preliminary differentiation.this work aimed to identify the species distribution of common clinical and environmental isolates of black aspergilli based on simple restriction fragment length polymorphism (rflp) analysis of the β-tubulin gene. a total of 149 clinical and environmental strains of black aspergilli were collected and subjected to preliminary morphological examination. total genomic dnas were extracted, and pcr was performed to amplify part of the β-tubulin gene. at first, 52 randomly selected samples were spec ...201626852194
biodegradation kinetics of thin-stillage treatment by aspergillus awamori and characterization of recovered chitosan.an attempt has been made to provide solution for distillery wastewater using fungal pretreatment followed by an anaerobic process to achieve higher organic matter removal, which is a challenge at present with currently adopted technologies. submerged growth kinetics of distillery wastewater supernatant by aspergillus awamori was also evaluated. the proposed kinetic models using a logistic equation for fungal growth and the leudeking-piret equation for product formation were validated experimenta ...201626512009
[influence of uv-radiation on physical-chemical and functional properties of free immobilized glucoamylase from aspergillus awamori].the effect of uv light (240-390 nm) at the doses of 151-1510 j/m2 on the catalytic activity of free and im- mobilized glucoamylase from aspergillus awamori was investigated. it was established that the loss of catalytic activity of the enzyme was associated with photochemical transformations of trp-120, which is part of the active site of glucoamylase. it was shown that the use of collagen as a carrier for immobilization of glucoamylase reduces the constant photoinactivation of the enzyme. it wa ...201625507622

bioactive profile, free-radical scavenging potential, dna damage protection activity, and mycochemicals in aspergillus awamori (mtcc 548) extracts: a novel report on filamentous fungi.biomass of aspergillus awamori was investigated for mycochemicals, total phenolic compounds (tpc), condensed tannin content (ctc), free-radical scavenging potential (frsp), and dna damage protection activity. frsp was determined using dpph, abts, frap (ferric reducing antioxidant power), metal chelating activity, and cupric reducing antioxidant capacity) assays. water (aq), aqueous ethanol 50% (aqe), and methanol were used as extraction phase at 44.5 °c for 23.8 min. aqe shows the presence of ma ...201728660460
the role of soybean extracts and isoflavones in hormone-dependent breast cancer: aromatase activity and biological effects.estrogen receptor-positive (er(+)) breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in women worldwide. nowadays, the relationship between soya diet and breast cancer is controversial due to the unknown role of its isoflavones, genistein (g) and daidzein (d). in this work, we investigated not only the anti-tumor properties of a soybean extract (nbse) but also whether the biotransformation of extract (bse) by the fungus aspergillus awamori increased its effectiveness. the bse showed a stron ...201728644496
biochemical characterization of the xylan hydrolysis profile of the extracellular endo-xylanase from geobacillus thermodenitrificans t12.endo-xylanases are essential in degrading hemicellulose of various lignocellulosic substrates. hemicellulose degradation by geobacillus spp. is facilitated by the hemicellulose utilization (hus) locus that is present in most strains belonging to this genus. as part of the hus locus, the xyna gene encoding an extracellular endo-xylanase is one of the few secreted enzymes and considered to be the key enzyme to initiate hemicellulose degradation. several geobacillus endo-xylanases have been charact ...201728521816
