autogeny in the neotropical sand fly lutzomyia lichyi (diptera: psychodidae) from colombia.host-seeking females of the anthropophilic sand fly, lutzomyia lichyi (floch & abonnenc), collected in valle, colombia, were invariably parous. all progeny of these insects reared in the laboratory were autogenous for the first ovarian cycle, producing fertile eggs without a blood meal. the importance of autogeny in leishmania transmission is discussed briefly.19921495081
