bovine focal proliferative fibrogranulomatous panniculitis (lechiguana) associated with pasteurella granulomatis.in southern brazil, cattle are affected by a disease known locally as lechiguana and characterized by large subcutaneous swellings. eighteen cases were examined clinically; 17 of the cattle had a single swelling, and one had two swellings. in 14 of the 18 cases, the swellings were located over the scapula and adjacent regions. the subcutaneous masses reached maximum dimensions of 45 x 50 cm, with heights above the skin surface of 5-25 cm. growth was rapid, often taking place in 15 to 60 days. hi ...19921632062
pasteurella haemolytica-like bacterium from a progressive granuloma of cattle in brazil.three strains of a pasteurella haemolytica-like bacterium were isolated from lesions of a progressive granuloma of cattle in southern brazil. their characteristics and their differentiation from p. haemolytica varieties and actinobacillus lignieresii are described. the name "pasteurella granulomatis" is proposed for this apparently new taxon.19892754010
the use of polymerase chain reaction to identify pasteurella granulomatis from cattle. 19968784516
role of pasteurella granulomatis and dermatobia hominis in the etiology of lechiguana in cattle.attempts were made to reproduce bovine lechiguana, a disease associated with dermatobia hominis and pasteurella granulomatis infections. suspensions of pasteurella granulomatis were mixed with each of the following: saponin, oil adjuvant, ground dermatobia hominis, or 5% mucin. each preparation was inoculated into 6 cattle. twelve more cattle, 6 of which received dexamethasone, were inoculated with bacterial suspension alone. abscesses but no lechiguana was produced in all 36 cattle. after absce ...19968784517
toxin production by pasteurella granulomatis.pasteurella granulomatis (pg) is a recently identified bacterium associated with proliferative fibrogranulomatous panniculitis (also called "lechiguana") in brazilian cattle. recent attempts to experimentally reproduce this disease have only been partially successful. we hypothesized that pg may produce hemolysin(s) and/or cytotoxin(s) which could contribute to its pathogenicity in susceptible cattle. the objective of this study was to determine the presence and degree of hemolytic and leukotoxi ...19989668517
lechiguana (focal proliferative fibrogranulomatous panniculitis) in cattle.lechiguana is a disease of cattle characterized by large, hard, subcutaneous swellings that grow rapidly and result in death after 3-11 months in untreated animals. cattle treated with antibiotics recover. the disease has been reported from five states in south and southeastern brazil. histologically, the lesion consists of focal proliferation of fibrous tissue infiltrated by plasma cells, eosinophils, lymphocytes and sometimes neutrophils. the primary lesion is an eosinophilic lymphangitis, whi ...200011305747
phenotypic characterisation of australian sheep and cattle isolates of mannheimia haemolytica, mannheimia granulomatis and mannheimia varigena.to perform a comprehensive phenotypic characterisation of 35 isolates of bacteria previously identified as haemolytic pasteurella-actinobacillus and obtained from cattle and sheep.200212180887
bovine subclinical mastitis caused by mannheimia granulomatis.mannheimia granulomatis was isolated for 10 months from the milk of a cow with elevated somatic cell counts. the infection was self-limiting. phenotypic and molecular characteristics of the isolate were determined.201021088192
